Afro Samurai: Game Review (PS3, 360)

"Blood,Revenge and memorable Sam Jackson one liners. Did I mention blood? A ton of it? Does the game do the series Justice? Why don’t you step over to the other side so we can take a look at Afro Samurai….

After seeing early footage of this title and being a huge Sam Jackson fan, I reserved it. Then I thought that perhaps I should actually watch the first season to make sure I would be interested in it. I bought it and quickly found myself wishing two things: First being that I watched it sooner and second that the game would hurry up and get here already! With that being said, you can see my expectations were pretty high for this game.

Visually, Afro Samurai looks like the Anime in which it is based. Using cel- shading to capture the unique style of the universe as well as varied multi-angled cut scenes. It looks like you’re watching the series and really adds to the immersion factor.

Now to what is important, it looks good but how does it play? Well, Here is where the game starts to lose it’s luster for me. First and foremost it is a third person action game where you face tons of enemies and basically hack and slash your way through them. Nothing wrong with a hack and slash title, they have their place and there are times that is exactly what I want to play. There are a few “Go pull this lever then find and press another lever” moments but nothing complicated like a God of War or Prince of Persia puzzle which takes some thought to get through. There are combo moves that you learn and unlock along the way, but let’s be honest, you don’t need them and many times they end up leaving you vulnerable after you try them. So I just used the basic attacks and the occasional block or kick to progress through the game. There are boss battles, which typically are one on one and is one of the bright points of gameplay." -Bombmatt"

Halo 4 Coming Soon: Announced?

Halo 4 rumors begin in 2008. They indicated no future release date, but rumors have been said that Halo 4 might be release for the Xbox 720. They plan to add a lot to Halo 4, they plan to include new maps as well as favorites from the past.

With all the new plan they have, they might break Halo 3’s record of sales and pre-orders, although Halo 3 is 1 of the top most sold games.

In halo 4, they plan to add and keep maps like Lockout, Midship, the Pitt, Guardian, Warlock, and many others will be there with the release. For the most part, there have been no rumors on new gun's, however you can assume they will altar the power of some guns to make gameplay more gun.

Halo 4 have not been announced by the Bungie, and rumors have been going that they have no longer owns the rights to the halo franchise. Also, Bungie has also become bored of Halo and wants to work on a new project. If Halo 4 is ever made, it will probably be made by some other company.

Xbox 720 Coming Soon: 2011-2012?

Xbox 720 is the pre-announcement accepted name for the next Xbox. While Sony already plan to make a PlayStation 4, and no doubt that Nintendo will developing a Wii 2... In an interview with the head of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business, he said the production team from the Xbox 360 is working on the next Xbox 720 [our pet name], and their looking into what kind of CPUs will be available on the market in 2011-2012. That would put the xbox 360 lifespan 6-7 years.

Xbox 720 is by no means the name of the next system, nor is it even suggesting that there is a new system in the works even. With an upgrade like the Xbox 720 there would be a huge boost in the Microsoft stock. The Xbox 720 will have a lot to live up too however. Robbie Bach, the President of Entertainment & Devices Division at Microsoft, said on June 13th, 2008:

“Our view is we will be selling Xbox 360 for a long time. We are always working on new technologies. We have people working on those. People ask me how many people I have working on the next generation. On the one hand, it’s everybody. On the other, it’s nobody. People are continuously working on new technology.

We started thinking about the next generation before we shipped the Xbox 360. It doesn’t start with a date. It starts way upstream with silicon development. From that comes a series of data points. You start making early technology choices. It’s an evolving thing. Stuff doesn’t become concrete until you get inside a window of when you have to ship, more than 18 months or so out.”

As you can see, they plan to make big money by waiting a long time to sell a lot of xbox 360. After that, they plan to launch the Xbox 720.

Noby Noby Boy Trophy Tips - Get Them All

Considering that only one of these is not a hidden trophy you can look at the trophy list and get most of these on your own, here is the help for all the trophies if you are having problems.

Bronze Trophies

10
Take 10 inhabitants for a ride.

I did this on the level full of animals and little elves. Stretch out as far as you can and just hold it till the trophy pops up.

20
Eat 20 inhabitants.

This is interesting to get, grow out to around 100m and start eating people. (tap L2 when close and facing them) Once you have the 20 the trophy will pop up, and yes you have to have them all at once.

100
Stretch BOY to a length of 100m.

Very easy to get, hold the sticks in opposite directions till the trophy pops up. You can go off the edge with out any worry and if you start in the middle can still grow out past the actual level.

Bye-Bye BOY
Meet up with Bye-Bye BOY.

Real easy, when you are done make sure you quit the game using the house and you will get this trophy. The game will tell you when to use the PS button.
The BOY House
Rotate the roof of the BOY House.

Hop into your house and slowly move the right stick in a circle and this should pop up soon.

The Space Squirrel
Find the Space Squirrel.

At any time hold up on the left stick and hit the start button. Float up and report your length to the girl and you will get this trophy. This one can be done at the same time as 765 if you want to do them at the same time feel free.

BOY Quiz Expert
Answer all questions correctly in the BOY Quiz.

I am not sure if someone can actually not get this trophy unless they never start up the game. Simple enough, start the game and complete the tutorial. You answer by using the button in question.

Silver Trophies

765
Report a length of exactly 765m to GIRL.

This is a more technical trophy. To start of this does not have to be your current length, it is the total length you will be reporting to the Girl (see The Space Squirrel).

1. First thing you need to do is hold right on your left stick and hit start. This will bring up the stats pages, From the first page that pops up you can see at the top your unreported length. At the bottom is your current length, leaving this up while you stretch is a good idea, you don’t have to but you can play with this screen up.
2. Stretch out using the sticks and when you are at about 100m click in and hold the sticks to shrink back down
3. When you are getting close to 765 you might want to try locking down your right side (hold down R2 and don’t move your stick) and just stretch out very little with the left stick to get down only getting one meter at a time. Also make sure you are shrunk down at a close number, when shrinking fast you will rebound and bounce around causing yourself to stretch when you don’t want to and could cause yourself to go over 765
4. Once 765 has been hit let go of every button, hit start once, then hold up and start to get to the sun so you can report you length, make sure it is 765 again there then go ahead and report it. Poof, a trophy.

The Prince
Take the Prince for a ride.

For this one you are searching for an all green level that is inhabited by what appear to be Eskimos and koala bears. Once you find this level make sure you see the katamaris falling from the sky and start looking for the prince. You don’t want to stretch out to far because he is small and you wont be able to see him if you are zoomed out to far. Once you find him stretch out a bit then follow him around till he hops on and poof, trophy for you.

Unproportional
Make BOY’s body grow thicker while keeping his head small.

On any level stretch out as far as you can on the level then eat everything in site till you can’t hold anything else inside. at this time hold L3 in until you are back to the starting length. Repeat this untill the trophy pops up for you, it may take a while.

Combined Character
Create a combined character by eating an animal and a human or a fruit and a human.

Eat only one human and one animal or fruit. Tap R2 to pop them out and you should get the trophy

Gold Trophy

Eat Your Words!
Eat the words NOBY NOBY BOY within the manual or in the staff credits.

Hit select to bring up your manual, tap L2 under the “About NOBY NOBY BOY” line. Once at this section position yourself above the section where there are no words and tape triangle once. now you will interact with words on the screen. When you hold down L2 in this mode you will eat the words on the screen, so now all you have to do is eat “NOBY NOBY BOY” IN ORDER and you will get this trophy.

Flower (PS3) - Game Review

Still trying to decide if video games can be art? Then you haven’t been playing Flower. Fortunately I have… want to know what you’re missing? Then read on. I will try not to give too much away but be warned there may be spoilers on the other side…The controls are simple: you tilt forward and back to go up and down, tilt side to side to turn and use one button (any button you choose) to boost your forward momentum. This game begins in a dark rundown room with broken windows and grey laundry hanging out in front of a mostly grey city scape. A single half-wilted flower sits in a pot on the bench in front of the window. The flower pot is your entry into the level. As you progress through the game you gain new flower pots, and spruce up your room.

You are the wind. You begin with one petal from a flower. As you maneuver through the game, every flower you touch blooms, a musical note sounds, and you collect another petal until you become a very impressive string of petals riding the wind. Don’t worry that’s not ALL there is to it.

The first few levels of the game are very calm. Soothing music plays in the background while you glide through individually animated blades of grass that react realistically to your presence as you move in search of new flowers to bloom. As you bloom flowers you revive the land from dead browns to brilliant greens. The calm leads to a false sense of security as the game takes a dark and ominous twist. Once in level four, there are dangers to your petals that will increase your heart rate while you smoke and twist in the wind.

I called this game a work of art, not just because it is visually stunning, and an incredible piece of animation, but most importantly because this game was able to evoke emotions in me. First calm, then anxious and fearful, then they round it out nicely with wonder and joy. I really enjoyed playing this game. Is it worth $10? Absolutely… it IS short, but well worth the play. I personally will be watching for expansion packs in the future. I won’t tell you how the game ends but I will tell you its worth playing to the end to find out.

Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection: Game Review

Since my first console system was a Sega Master System, you can guess I am going to love this, but just in case you should check the other side for the review.

In my younger years there was a very special game of poker going on between father and son. For the final hand there was a big bet made. If the father wins the son is doing all the yard work for the year with no allowance. If the son wins the father is buying the son a Sega Master System. Lets just say I (the son) won and will never get a straight flush again in my life. But I ramble on.

Just so you know I will not be going into graphics with this game. Lets face it, old 8 and 16 bit games were awesome then but not so much now.

This game launched with 40 retro games for your enjoyment. I will list them at the bottom of the story so I don’t take up much space here. One interesting thing about pulling out he old system and playing it is that there are only 2-4 buttons and a D-pad. For me when I am playing the old games on the original system, everything just feels wrong; the controller is different and odd feeling. I really liked playing these games on my PS3 because I am already used to the controller. It also seems like the game reaction time from when you hit a button on the controller is better than the old system. I have no idea what this plays like on the Xbox 360, I like to play these games with the D-pad I went straight for the PS3 version over the 360 because (it’s no secret) the 360 D-pad SUCKS.

Going back and playing Sonic, Columns, and Streets of Rage was great. I had forgotten what the games were like and how good they are. If those aren’t enough there are other unlockable games from Sega’s past. I almost cried when I saw that Phantasy Star from the Sega Master System was unlockable.

The game allows you to change the buttons, adjust screen size for the widescreen folks, and has save states. Save states, if you don’t know, are a way to save what is going on in a game at that very moment. So if you are playing in Sonic the Hedgehog, a game that on the Genesis had no way of saving, you can save your progress. Makes it a little better on games like that because sometimes I want to just play a level then drop it. Now I can keep my place.

Playstation 3 Backwards Compatibility Demystified

This one should be a no-brainer, but in case you didn’t figure it out: start a level and keep rolling your Cuboid off the edge. When your Cuboid is placed back on the playing field, rinse and repeat. Seriously… it doesn’t take long.

Cheap and easy: just before going to bed, make sure you don’t have Power Save on for your controllers (it’s in your Options menu for the PS3, NOT the game), launch Cuboid and start a map… don’t finish it. Plug your controller into your PS3 using a USB cable (so it doesn’t run out of power) and… go to bed. Provided you’ve been playing at all, and that you get roughly eight hours of sleep, you’ll wake up with the Trophy. Whoring at it’s most basic.

Silver Trophies

Equilibrist
Complete 15 levels in a row without falling
This Trophy isn’t terribly hard. You should attempt this Trophy when you’re not working on anything else in the game (like trying to get a Lighting speed rating). Take it slow, double check each move before you make it, and just play the game.

Burnout Paradise Party Pack Game Review

We don’t normally review expansions, but… there’s no rule against it.

Visually stunning, suspiciously addicting (possibly laced with nicotine?), and supported by its developer WELL after it’s release, Burnout Paradise is a game that never gets old, and deserves a place in everyone’s collection.

Get our take on the downloadable add-on for Criterion’s Burnout Paradise.

This new expansion (available for download, $9.99 U.S., PS3 and XBox 360) adds an entirely new ‘game’ to Burnout Paradise, although it is built on the same framework.

The Party Pack essentially turns Burnout into a party game, in the vein of Mario Party, or Wario Ware. Up to 8 players can compete using a single controller, each taking a turn, then passing to the next player.

Each game is split into 1 to 8 rounds, with each round comprised of a challenge that all players must complete or compete in.

‘Skill’ challenges involve ‘who can do the most’ given a certain set of goals and conditions. An example would be: ‘Get the highest drift distance while your boost and accelerator are locked on’. All Skill challenges are timed, and many will end prematurely if you crash. At the end of the round, points towards the overall game are doled out based on which player did the best, with the lowest ranked player receiving zero points for that round.

‘Stunt’ challenges have each player attempting to pull off a specific move. The way these challenges are set up, you only get one chance, and if you blow it… you fail that round. No points for you.

‘Speed’ challenges are races to specific places, with the fastest player garnering the most points.

You can set the number of players, rounds, and types of Challenges for each round, including an option for Random selection of Challenge types.

Trophy Whores will probably want to pick this expansion up for the SEVEN EASIEST TROPHIES EVER DESIGNED.

Really. It took just under an hour to unlock them all… and I took smoke breaks.

I was disappointed that there were no ‘Showtime’ or ‘Crash’ challenges, but hey… they gotta leave something for the next bit of DLC, right?

Another downside of the expansion was the color pallette and sounds. Pop-up windows and indicators, as well as the menu system, are all done in pastels with festive streamers and confetti. Seriously? When did Burnout take visual cues from fabric softener ads? While in the menu screens you’ll notice an annoying amount of background chatter, applause, and party noisemakers. I’m grinding my teeth just thinking about it.

The new game type is a welcome addition for current Burnout fans who have real-life face-to-face friends. With no online elements, I can’t recommend this to anyone who games alone, but if you have company at the house, and they are gamers, you’ll want to pick this up.

The Sims 3 Release Date - PC

Gameplay:

Sim houses and neighborhoods will be entirely in one continuous map, and the developers state that "What you do outside your home now matters as much as what you do within." Resident Evil 5 Demo Review

I finally got a chance to try out the Resident Evil 5 demo last night, and its pretty much exactly what I expected. I liked RE4 quite a bit, and this seems like it won’t disappoint. The graphics are beautiful, and the controls were fine. It just took me a minute to get used to their level of responsiveness. It feels sluggish at first, but it fits with the pace of the game. I can’t really fault it just because I’m used to twitchier games.

I don’t know how I’m going to feel about having a partner throughout the whole game. I find the amount of noise that the pair make together kind of annoying. It seems like every piece of gear they have makes its own clunking or clanking sound every time I take a step, and it makes me feel like there’s constantly somebody behind me who shouldn’t be there. I guess that’s a good thing, considering its a survival horror game.

Anyway, if you liked RE4 and haven’t tried it out yet, give it a shot because it looks like its going to be a worthy successor to one of my favorite games of all time.

Well, those are the rumors. Since the PSP (AKA: PSP Fat) first came out on 2005 for the USA, there where only 2 other PSP version released. The PlayStation Portable Slim and Lite(Also know as PSP-2000) and the PlayStation Portable 3000 series. They sold over 41 million copy worldwide. This beat the ps3, xbox 360, and wii. The ps3 sold 16.84 million, Xbox 360 sold 28 million, and wii sold 33 million. This was last updated on 2008 of September - 2009 of january.

Sony has consistently denied that no product is in development, rumors and predictions have been circling for over a year about a forthcoming PSP 2. The PSP 2 rumors have been said to have a touch screen.

IGN have contacted Sony about the rumors for future comments on the matter, but they replay back unsurprisingly straight out of the rumor-response playbook, "We can't comment on rumors or speculation."

Halo Wars Demo Coming Feb 5th, Production Complete

When will Halo Wars demo be release? It’s been a while since Halo fans have gotten to play a new Halo game. Today, the long wait is over as Halo Wars production has finished with gold status and official word that a demo will be out Feb 5th.

A demo for Halo Wars will be hitting Xbox LIVE on February 5, a few of weeks before its release, which is confirmed for March 3, 2009 for the North Americans. It was also said that Halo Wars was going to be rated teen, the first for Halo series.

There have not been details on the release date for Halo:ODST.

Halo Wars is an upcoming real-time strategy video game set in the Halo universe, designed by Ensemble Studios for Xbox 360. It was confirmed that it was going to be set to release on Feb 28, 2009, a few weeks after the Halo Wars Demo was release. It have been updated to be release on March 3, 2009.

Microsoft has revealed a Halo Wars - Limited Collector’s Edition for the game which releases on March 3, 2009 exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Xbox 720 has been announced and confirmed. Xbox 720 is set to be release on 2011-2012. Microsoft have not give details about the Xbox 720. Sony has been announced and confirmed. it is set to be release on 2011. Unlike Microsoft, Sony have gave details on the new PS4:

The Rams will be GDDR3/DDR3.
PS4 will try to be release before xbox 720, around the same year, or much sooner.
The PS4 graphics will not change a lot.

I am hoping that it is "cheaper" then the PS3.

Game Review: Left 4 Dead (PC,360)

Have you ever watched a horror movie? In particular, a Zombie flick with some friends? Inevitably there is always somebody that brings up the topic of “What if it really happened?” or “I would survive that”… Let’s take a look at Left 4 Dead and see how good it recreates the scenario….

Left 4 Dead is a first person cooperative survival horror game. Four players or combination of players and AI work together to make their way from safe room to safe room and hopefully if all goes well to a helicopter where they are rescued. Along the way, they are attacked by hordes of Zombies. Not the usual slow and lumbering zombies but fast crazed zombies that are as relentless as they are blood thirsty.

Besides the normal undead that will be after you, there are five special zombies that add to the threat. The Hunter: fast agile and able to pounce from rooftops and great distances. The Smoker: grabs victims with its long tongue and drags them, when killed releases a cloud of smoke. The Boomer: A very large, bloated creature that vomits on victims and attracts the horde of regular zombies. The Tank: another large adversary that is very strong and when an attack hits, throws the victim. The Witch: if a player gets too close,makes too much noise, or shines a light on her will prompt her to attack.

The player gets to choose between the four different survivors: Francis, Zoey, Louis and Bill. Other than the character models and the lines yelled out by the characters, there is no difference between them. Left 4 Dead is best experienced online, with other players. The AI is pretty good but obviously you want a real person watching your six. Players can either play a 4 player cooperative match or 8 player competitive. In competitive mode, 4 players are survivors and 4 players play the special zombies (with the exception of the witch). This is where the game shines, playing with a team of your friends against another team of four, rotating from victim to zombie after each round.

While you can play single player, let’s be honest, other than getting used to the mechanics and maybe the levels, it really isn’t the best. It isn’t the focus of the game as it is meant to be played with others and that’s alright. Anway, if your looking for a unique cooperative game to play, I would recommend this title. If you typically play by yourself or very limited online play, I would skip it and perhaps look elsewhere.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Outsells PlayStation 3 by Over 8 Million

Xbox 360 sold over 8 million more then PlayStation 3. Xbox 360 sold over 28 million. So that mean that PlayStation sold around 20 million. But, how about the Nintendo Wii. PS3 and Xbox 360 is still behind the Nintendo Wii. This is according to media reports on Sunday.

Why could the PlayStation 3 be behind of Xbox 360, and why is the Xbox 360 Behind Nintendo Wii. Well, it's simple. Nintendo Wii is cheaper then the Xbox 360, and the Xbox 360 is Cheaper then PlayStation 3.

Microsoft Xbox 360 have many great feature, Like Xbox Live and Xbox Live Arcade, but this is not free. Xbox Live is $8 US Dollars for 1 month, while you need Microsoft Points to download stuff from the Arcade. 1600 Microsoft points cost $20 US Dollars.

PlayStation 3, of what i know of, is that everything is free, if you have internet. To play online is free, but Xbox 360 Live is much better. Nintendo Wii is free also, but you have to pay $20 Us Dollars for 2000 Wii Points so you can download and play your old Nintendo games.

You can now watch Full Screen Youtube videos on your TV screen using your PS3 and Wii Browser! This might make a good deal for Sony, while many people are going to buy a PS3 just to watch Youtube on there Flat Screen TV. The new Youtube TV feature is something I'm sure you are going to enjoy.

Even though it’s still Late January, Christmas is pretty much over for gamers like us. Prince of Persia marked the very last big release of the year 2008. Here are the top ten hot/Best games for 2009:

1.) Resident Evil 5
After playing resident Evil 1-4, it was about time they made a Resident Evil Number 5. O yes, i was waiting for this moment, and after all of this time, it is finally here. Resident Evil games always been in the top games. I will post reviews on this game when i get my hands on it, so come back if you want to read my review.

2.) Halo 3: ODST
Halo always been one of the best games of all times. Just look at what some teenager did, so he can get halo 3 game. This teen killed his parents just so he can get his hands on it. Wow. You have to leave a comment below about your thoughts.

3.) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
After all that killing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it was about time they made a number 2. It's kinda cool, but don't think this will be the last Call of Duty game. There should be more coming for 2010.

This game might be pretty cool to play. After playing Bioshock 1 for 5 straight hours, i was tried, but i still wanted to play.

5.) Assassin’s Creed 2

Teen Trail for Murder Over "Halo 3"

There had been a trail for a teen accused for killing his mother and wounding his father after they took away his copy of Halo 3. He is a 17 years old teen and he say's he was insane when he killed his mother and shot his father after they took away his copy of video game halo 3. This was cause by addiction. In the video game Halo 3, players shoot alien monsters that have taken over Earth.

After the parents took his halo 3 game, he was very angry, and because of his addiction to this game, he planed to kill his parents. On the night of the shooting, Petric used his father's key to open a lockbox and remove a 9 mm handgun and the game. The teen's mother, Susan Petric, 43, died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Her husband, Mark Petric, a minister at New Life Assembly of God in Wellington, Ohio, also was shot in the head but survived. During the trail, they suspected that he was going to make it like if they commented suicide, but his father survived.On the night of the murder, he went to his parents and told them “Would you guys close your eyes? I have a surprise for you.” The father testified that he expected a pleasant surprise. Then he got shot.

Microsoft said "We are aware of the situation and it is a tragic case."
